What is NO-ISBN? 

NO-ISBN is a non-commercial project by Viennese artist Bernhard Cella in connection with his  “Salon für Kunstbuch” in Vienna.

Submission date:  January 31st, 2010

Participation requirements?

1. send one book by post to Vienna.

2. sign the participation agreement (» open the agreement form as PDF).

3. fill out the form on the website.                                                                   

The following personal information is necessary:                                 

Name, address, telephone number, email, cv/resume (short bio), introduction, and working methods. 20 lines max.

What can be submitted?

Artists’ books, magazines, e-books with the following traits:

Published no earlier than 2000                                                                                 

Minimum edition 5 pieces

Self publishing: self produced and marketed or artists who have started their own press. The author or the self publisher must make the submission.

How are the books selected for inclusion?

The selection will occur through a jury of three people from the areas of the fine arts, publishing, and critique. The names of the jury members will be published with the publication of the results.

What will be presented and where?

The selected books will be presented to the public in the course of the exhibition >NO-ISBN<. Every participant also agrees to the publication of his or her work as a print of the cover and short description online at: www.salon-fuer-kunstbuch.at. Participants also agree to inclusion in a  publication.

Media partner: not yet announced.

Return of books:

1. The return of the book submitted is possible for a set fee of 10euros. This should be sent along with the submission or transferred to the given account number, whereby documentation of this must be sent with the submission.

2. The authors hereby declare their consent that all of the books not marked for return will become the property of the library at the Salon für Kunstbuch and will be available there to all interested visitors.

Liability:

The organizer (Bernhard Cella und die Galerie für zeitgenössische Kunst Leipzig) are unable to take any responsibility for any possible damage to the exhibited pieced during the exhibition or shipping, or for theft or vandalism.

Currently, I am putting together an Internet- marketing platform for NO-ISBN publications. In the course of the exhibition in Leipzig, all authors will be invited to put their publications out in the market through the NO-ISBN platform of the Salons für Kunstbuch.
